Abel Hernández was born in Pando, Canelones, Uruguay, on August 8th, 1990. At the age of 4 he began playing football at the Atlanta Juniors Athletic Institution, in his hometown.
In 2006, at the age of 16, he made his debut as a forward in Central Español Club, in Uruguay’s Premier League.
In 2008 he began to play for Club Atlético Peñarol. A year on, he made his first pass to European football, being incorporated to the U.S. Palermo Team, in Sicily.
In 2010 he was summoned to play for the Uruguayan National Football Team, debuting in a friendly match against Angola, where he scored his first goal.
In 2014 he started playing as a forward in Hull City, first division of England.
Currently plays at CSKA Moscow.
